About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach HOM/MHL 267 European Music before 1800, focusing on cultural and philosophical contexts through listening and analysis.
- Develop and update class syllabi and prepare lectures, projects, and student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
- Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner and submit final grades according to University regulations.
- Order appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
- Work with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
- Meet all designated class periods and coordinate coverage in the event of an emergency.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or ABD in Music History or a related field.
- Familiarity with musical notation and musical terms.
- Ability to provide instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
