About the role

Responsibilities

  • Teach HOM/MHL 267 European Music before 1800, focusing on cultural and philosophical contexts through listening and analysis.
  • Develop and update class syllabi and prepare lectures, projects, and student assignments.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
  • Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner and submit final grades according to University regulations.
  • Order appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Work with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
  • Meet all designated class periods and coordinate coverage in the event of an emergency.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or ABD in Music History or a related field.
  • Familiarity with musical notation and musical terms.
  • Ability to provide instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
