About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update a class syllabus for SOC 397 Criminology
  • Prepare lectures, projects, and other student assignments
  • Deliver instruction covering the nature and significance of crime, historical and modern explanations, and crime control strategies
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to support students
  • Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner
  • Submit mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations
  • Order appropriate books and materials in advance of the course start date

Requirements

  • MA in Sociology or a closely related discipline
  • Evidence of effective teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or ABD status
  • Previous teaching experience within the Maxwell School
