About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach JNL 345: Business and Ethics of Journalism in a Changing World for the Fall 2026 semester
- Develop a comprehensive syllabus and prepare all course materials
- Lead classroom discussions on ethical issues across broadcast, digital, magazine, newspaper, and social platforms
- Evaluate journalism standards and practices, specifically regarding conflicts between audience interests and revenue
- Hold weekly on-campus office hours to support student learning
- Grade assignments and examinations in a timely manner and submit progress reports and final grades per University regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Significant experience as a working journalist
- Demonstrated ability to lead discussions on media decision-making
- Strong understanding of the political, economic, technological, and social forces influencing the media industry
- Ability to instruct classes in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00pm–6:20pm
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Previous experience teaching college-level courses
