About the role
Responsibilities
- Protect, maintain, and operate state park lands, facilities, and natural resources at Detroit Lake.
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks using building trades such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and landscaping.
- Oversee utility infrastructure operation and park facility systems.
- Support resource interpretation, natural and cultural resource restoration, and park rule enforcement.
- Plan and organize equipment, materials, and staff to accomplish work objectives.
- Diagnose maintenance problems and implement effective solutions.
Requirements
- Four years of visitor services or maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping, rule enforcement, or environmental education).
- OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 1 year of relevant experience.
- OR an Associate's degree in a related field plus 2.5 years of relevant experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a criminal and driving record check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in specialized park resource and facility operations.
- Proficiency in performing plumbing, carpentry, and grounds-keeping tasks at a journeyman level.
- Ability to maintain composure and take appropriate action during emergency or emotionally charged situations.
- Strong skills in evaluating situations and applying rules to achieve desired results.
