Park and Recreation Associate

Responsibilities

• Assist with the maintenance and facilitation of indoor shelters and dog parks
• Provide assistance to patrons and direct parking and pedestrian traffic
• Monitor patron activity and scheduled programs to ensure safety and completeness
• Perform event setup and teardown, including decorating and moving equipment
• Maintain facility cleanliness by picking up trash, sweeping, mopping, and weeding
• Collect various fees from patrons and manage cash transactions
• Assist with concessions, including operating cash registers and serving food
• Perform seasonal maintenance such as shoveling and blowing snow

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Possession of a valid driver's license (required for assigned driving duties)
• Must meet the City of Des Moines residency requirement
• Ability to pass a satisfactory criminal, sex offender, and driving record background check
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with the general public
• Experience working within a recreational or leisure work environment
