About the role
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency medical incidents throughout the campus.
- Provide emergency medical care consistent with certification levels and Alabama EMS protocols.
- Support athletic events, student activities, commencement ceremonies, and other special campus events.
- Coordinate response efforts with University Police, local law enforcement, fire departments, and hospitals.
- Participate in campus emergency preparedness planning, drills, and incident command activities.
- Complete accurate and timely patient care reports, incident reports, and required documentation.
- Maintain emergency medical equipment, medications, supplies, and overall response readiness.
- Serve as essential personnel during emergencies, weather events, and campus closures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current Alabama Paramedic License issued by the ADPH Office of EMS and Trauma.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
- Valid Alabama Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Minimum of two (2) years of emergency medical services (EMS) experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- National Registry Paramedic (NRP) Certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
- Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Certification.
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) Certification.
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) 100/200 and NIMS 700/800 Certifications.
- CPR/AED Instructor Certification.
- Experience in higher education, hospital emergency departments, or municipal EMS/fire rescue.
