About the role

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency medical incidents throughout the campus.
  • Provide emergency medical care consistent with certification levels and Alabama EMS protocols.
  • Support athletic events, student activities, commencement ceremonies, and other special campus events.
  • Coordinate response efforts with University Police, local law enforcement, fire departments, and hospitals.
  • Participate in campus emergency preparedness planning, drills, and incident command activities.
  • Complete accurate and timely patient care reports, incident reports, and required documentation.
  • Maintain emergency medical equipment, medications, supplies, and overall response readiness.
  • Serve as essential personnel during emergencies, weather events, and campus closures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current Alabama Paramedic License issued by the ADPH Office of EMS and Trauma.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
  • Valid Alabama Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of emergency medical services (EMS) experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Registry Paramedic (NRP) Certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Certification.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) Certification.
  • FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) 100/200 and NIMS 700/800 Certifications.
  • CPR/AED Instructor Certification.
  • Experience in higher education, hospital emergency departments, or municipal EMS/fire rescue.
