About the role

Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents, pleadings, and discovery materials
  • Coordinate service of process and file documents with the clerk of court
  • Maintain case files, court calendars, and litigation timetables
  • Perform legal research for attorneys under supervision
  • Coordinate inter-agency and intra-agency legal functions
  • Perform notary functions and attend hearings to assist counsel
  • Assist witnesses with court proceedings
  • Enter data accurately into statewide databases

Requirements

  • Completion of a training program for legal assistants, paralegals, or attorney's assistants
  • A degree or certificate in legal technology, administration, studies, or allied legal services
  • A bachelor’s degree in allied legal services from an accredited institution
  • Two years of experience in paralegal work
  • Two years of experience in legal secretarial work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to speak, read, or write Spanish, Creole, French, or other foreign languages
