About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare legal documents, pleadings, and discovery materials
- Coordinate service of process and file documents with the clerk of court
- Maintain case files, court calendars, and litigation timetables
- Perform legal research for attorneys under supervision
- Coordinate inter-agency and intra-agency legal functions
- Perform notary functions and attend hearings to assist counsel
- Assist witnesses with court proceedings
- Enter data accurately into statewide databases
Requirements
- Completion of a training program for legal assistants, paralegals, or attorney's assistants
- A degree or certificate in legal technology, administration, studies, or allied legal services
- A bachelor’s degree in allied legal services from an accredited institution
- Two years of experience in paralegal work
- Two years of experience in legal secretarial work
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to speak, read, or write Spanish, Creole, French, or other foreign languages
