Paralegal Intern

Responsibilities

• Support a collaborative defense team of trial attorneys, paralegals, investigators, and social workers
• Conduct client interviews and speak with witnesses
• Perform legal research and case analysis
• Collect and review mitigation materials and evidence
• Prepare documents for hearings and trials, including bail packages
• Assist with field investigations and observe court proceedings
• Organize case files and exhibits

Requirements

• Undergraduate junior (rising senior), senior, or post-baccalaureate graduate
• Resident of New York City or the neighboring area
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Demonstrated commitment to public defense and advocacy
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

• Fluency or professional proficiency in Spanish, Arabic, or other languages
