About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform routine legal research under attorney guidance
- Compute claims and liens for Medicaid and Public Assistance
- Coordinate correspondence for lien requests
- Monitor case decisions and settlements to ensure timely follow-up
- Prepare statistical and narrative reports on collection efforts
- Research real property, person locators, and other necessary data
- Review case referrals to determine warranted actions
- Process recovery checks for Medicaid and Public Assistance liens
- Communicate with attorneys regarding personal injury or estate cases
- Answer inquiries from recipients, fiduciaries, and attorneys
Requirements
- Must be permanent in Paralegal Civil Service title or eligible for title change
- Or be immediately reachable on Exam No. 4070
- Baccalaureate degree OR Associate degree with 2 years of US-based paralegal experience OR High School diploma with 4 years of US-based paralegal experience
- Experience must involve the American Legal System
- For Assignment Level II, must have one additional year of pertinent experience or a baccalaureate degree
