Paralegal II

Responsibilities

• Perform routine legal research under attorney guidance
• Compute claims and liens for Medicaid and Public Assistance
• Coordinate correspondence for lien requests
• Monitor case decisions and settlements to ensure timely follow-up
• Prepare statistical and narrative reports on collection efforts
• Research real property, person locators, and other necessary data
• Review case referrals to determine warranted actions
• Process recovery checks for Medicaid and Public Assistance liens
• Communicate with attorneys regarding personal injury or estate cases
• Answer inquiries from recipients, fiduciaries, and attorneys

Requirements

• Must be permanent in Paralegal Civil Service title or eligible for title change
• Or be immediately reachable on Exam No. 4070
• Baccalaureate degree OR Associate degree with 2 years of US-based paralegal experience OR High School diploma with 4 years of US-based paralegal experience
• Experience must involve the American Legal System
• For Assignment Level II, must have one additional year of pertinent experience or a baccalaureate degree
