Paralegal

Responsibilities

• Review small claims matters and third-party legal requests, including garnishments, subpoenas, powers of attorney, and guardianships.
• Support the defense of small claims by researching claims, gathering records, and preparing materials for counsel review.
• Prepare and distribute correspondence and response letters to claimants and stakeholders.
• Record, process, and monitor incoming legal filings and orders using matter management systems.
• Maintain electronic case management tools, shared file rooms, and databases to ensure file integrity.
• Respond to status inquiries and escalations from internal teams and issuing parties.
• Support program administration, monthly reporting, and special litigation support projects.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in paralegal, legal operations, or legal analyst roles supporting litigation or small claims.
• Proven experience reviewing legal documents, tracking deadlines, and coordinating responses to subpoenas or garnishments.
• Proficiency with matter management systems, document repositories, and database tools.
• Strong written communication skills for preparing legal correspondence and support materials.
• Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Business, Criminal Justice, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal operations credential.
• Experience supporting litigation involving consumer or individual accounts.
• Background in financial services, payments, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience collaborating directly with in-house and external counsel.
