Painter III Lead

Responsibilities

• Oversee and lead the paint department team to meet production schedules and quality standards
• Assign and supervise daily work assignments for the hourly production team
• Review department work to verify technical accuracy and compliance with customer requirements
• Coordinate technical training for new hires and cross-train employees to maximize efficiency
• Manage daily tool control processes and ensure equipment is properly maintained
• Perform safety audits and ensure compliance with hazardous waste disposal and fire prevention programs
• Address quality issues and implement corrective actions with operators
• Maintain spray equipment and follow all procedures for a high-quality lasting paint finish
• Promote Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools within the team

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of experience in automotive paint application
• Extensive knowledge of paint blending, repair, and application of automotive coatings
• Proficiency using air paint systems, dual-action sanders, grinders, and hand tools
• Ability to read and interpret shop orders, technical instructions, and measuring devices
• General knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
• Ability to work in a production environment involving noise, dust, fumes, and vibration
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, or working with arms above the head
