Painter I

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for paint by performing sanding, light body work, taping, and chemical washing
• Seal all seams and wipe down areas to be painted with degreaser and solvent
• Grind welds and fill dents, gouges, or holes with body filler
• Mask off edges and areas where paint is not required
• Use dual action sanders, grinders, and air files to achieve a smooth surface
• Apply primers using an air paint system
• Buff and polish finished products to meet quality standards
• Apply caulking to designated areas

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous experience in automotive paint and paint preparation preferred
• Ability to operate dual action sanders, grinders, and various hand tools
• Ability to spray primers with an air paint system
• Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
• Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs without assistance
• Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions and stand for extended periods
