Painter I

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, and prepare products for final paint application
• Mix coatings with reducer and catalyst using color mixture equipment
• Spray primers, sealers, color, and clear coatings to meet gloss and coverage standards
• Utilize wet and dry film gauges to check coating thickness
• Maintain spray equipment, paint booth cleanliness, and filter logs
• Manage hazardous waste disposal and follow spill response procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized work area

Requirements

• Ability to use dual action sanders, grinders, and various hand tools
• Knowledge of paint gun operation, including disassembly and cleaning
• General knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
• Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively in a team
• Ability to lift and move 40 lbs. regularly
• Ability to pass a spirometer test and use a respirator
• Ability to work in non-temperature-controlled environments (95+ degrees)
• Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding and perform tasks with arms above head

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of automotive painting experience
• 1–2 years of vocational education
