Painter I

Responsibilities

• Apply sub-coatings and finish coatings to metal components and finished vehicles
• Mix coatings with thinner and catalyst using color mixture equipment to meet specifications
• Operate various types of spray equipment to meet coverage and gloss standards
• Check all painted materials for proper surface condition and perform necessary repairs
• Maintain spray equipment to meet operational standards
• Follow all hazardous waste disposal programs, fire prevention procedures, and spill response protocols
• Assist with cleanup, staging parts, and delivering parts to different departments
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace in compliance with company housekeeping standards

Requirements

• GED or High School Diploma (GED may be obtained within the first year of employment)
• Ability to operate spray equipment in confined spaces
• Ability to operate a hand control crane
• Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs without assistance
• Ability to work in high heat (above 100 degrees), noisy, and dusty conditions
• Ability to wear a paint respirator for more than 10 hours per day
• Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to differentiate between color shades
• Ability to read and communicate simple instructions in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Six months of automotive-quality paint experience or prior acceptable training
