Paint/Body Worker I

Responsibilities

• Perform paint preparation and body work to prepare emergency vehicles for final paint
• Sand, scuff, grind welds, and fill dents or gouges using body filler
• Mask off edges and areas where paint is not required
• Wipe down surfaces with degreaser solvent and seal all seams
• Spray primers using air paint systems
• Clean and maintain equipment, including paint guns
• Meet all QA and QC standards for each task
• Use chemicals safely according to established criteria and OSHA/EPA standards
• Perform fiberglass laminations for repair or production as required

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and communicate simple instructions in English
• Experience operating dual-action sanders, grinders, and various hand tools
• Ability to spray primers with an air paint system
• General knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs without assistance
• Ability to stand for eight hours a day and work in noisy, dusty conditions
• Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, or various squatting and kneeling positions
