Paint Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Manage the optimal operation of paint booths, including air balancing and environmental parameter control (temperature, humidity, differential pressure).
• Supervise the formulation and preparation of water-based and solvent-based paints according to technical specifications.
• Configure and optimize application parameters such as pressure, flow rate, distance, and speed.
• Program and optimize Fanuc robots (axial and reciprocating) to maximize transfer efficiency and minimize waste.
• Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) for critical variables and conduct process capability studies (Cp, Cpk).
• Perform root cause analysis for defects (e.g., dirt in paint, cracks, peeling) using methodologies like 8D, DMAIC, and A3.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and CQI-12 coating quality standards.
• Execute adhesion, chemical resistance, impact, and aging tests to verify quality.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar process engineering position.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related Engineering field.
• Deep knowledge of water-based and solvent-based paints and their application on engineering plastics.
• Hands-on experience with Fanuc robot programming and automated application systems.
• Proficiency in SPC, root cause analysis (8D, DMAIC), and data analysis.
• Strong understanding of colorimetry, formulation, and HVLP application technologies.
• Familiarity with automated dosing systems such as 2K and ProMixh.
