About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and support children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Design and deliver individualised therapy programmes tailored to each pupil’s needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families, and the wider multi-disciplinary team
  • Provide advice, strategies, and training to school staff to support communication across the curriculum
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records
  • Contribute to reviews, EHCP processes, and multi-disciplinary meetings
  • Offer clinical leadership, mentoring, and supervision to junior colleagues (Band 7 applicants)

Requirements

  • Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
  • Experience working with children or young people with complex needs
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
