Paediatric Community Speech and Language Therapist

Responsibilities

• Assess children and young people’s speech, language, and communication needs
• Deliver targeted interventions for phonology, language disorders, and AAC
• Undertake Section F provisions of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
• Write termly care plans and detailed clinical reports
• Contribute to multidisciplinary care planning and liaise with parents and teachers
• Deliver therapy addressing communication, sensory, and motor needs in school settings
• Visit schools and community settings across Essex
• Offer clinical support and guidance to lower banded team members
• Maintain accurate clinical records

Requirements

• Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• HCPC registration
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience at Band 6 level
• Experience with autism and special educational needs
• Sensory integration training relevant to paediatric practice
• Experience delivering therapy within school settings
• Strong report writing skills and EHCP documentation experience
• Ability to undertake autonomous lone working
• Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
