Paediatric Acute Speech and Language Therapist

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, differential diagnosis, and programmes of intervention for children and teenagers
• Perform instrumental assessments of swallowing, including video fluoroscopy
• Manage tracheostomy care for children and teenagers, including in-reaching into adult ICU
• Support children on both curative and palliative pathways
• Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams

Requirements

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• HCPC registration
• Acute paediatric dysphagia competence
• Significant clinical experience in specialist fields (e.g., head & neck, neuro, oncology, or acute paediatric dysphagia)
• Experience in an NHS acute hospital environment preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
