About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and develop packaging machinery and systems, including 3D models, detailed drawings, and material selection
- Analyze and improve packaging processes to enhance reliability, quality, and safety through mechanical innovations
- Manage packaging equipment projects from concept to completion, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and start-up of mechanical systems and packaging machinery
- Ensure all mechanical installations comply with local, state, and federal regulations and company safety standards
- Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers to source equipment and identify process improvements
- Provide technical support and oversee regular maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize production downtime
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment, preferably in packaging machinery
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks
- Experience with automation and robotics in packaging systems
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and execution
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools
- Proficiency in MS Office, including MS Project and PowerPoint
- Global mindset with an interest in technological and supply chain innovation
