Packaging Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and develop packaging solutions for HP printer products, including cartons, rigid boxes, and molded pulp cushions
• Apply engineering principles to improve product protection, cost-efficiency, and sustainability
• Develop packaging structures and contribute to mechanical and thermal hardware solutions
• Execute test plans for new designs, including tolerance validation, shock, vibration, and reliability testing
• Manage relationships with outsourced suppliers to ensure alignment on quality, cost, and schedules
• Lead project teams of mechanical hardware and packaging engineers for complex development programs
• Communicate design status, project progress, and risk mitigation strategies to management and partners

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 4–7 years of experience in engineering design, hardware development, or packaging design
• Proven experience designing cartons, rigid boxes, and molded pulp packaging structures
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools used in mechanical or packaging design
• Strong understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) and production tooling processes
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Ansys Simulation Software or Finite Element Methods (FEM)
• Knowledge of injection molding, machining, and sheet metal processes
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools
