About the role

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the implementation of packaging designs to meet regulatory and industry guidelines.
  • Lead and manage package testing projects with both internal and external laboratories.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, engineers, and project managers to support the commercialization of new packaging systems.
  • Perform sample preparation and package performance feasibility studies in the on-site prototyping and testing laboratory.
  • Provide packaging engineering consultation services to clients and perform quoting for testing services.
  • Analyze and interpret test results and execute root cause analysis as necessary.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to in-house interns and other testing engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of related industry experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors.
  • Professional proficiency in industry standards including USP, ASTM, ISTA, and ISO.
  • Strong understanding of cGMP and GLP processes/standards (21 CFR Part 211).
  • Advanced technical writing skills and high standards for report writing.
  • Understanding of Human Factors Validation testing and Child Resistance/Adult Friendly packaging qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of package design and proficiency in software such as Solidworks, ArtiosCAD, TOPS, or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Hands-on prototyping experience.
  • Experience working within a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for paperboard, injection molded, thermoform, and coldform materials.
  • Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) or Certified Packaging Lab Professional (CPLP) certifications.
