Owner's Civil Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and owner’s oversight for civil and structural engineering on nuclear new build projects
• Review and approve civil and structural deliverables from EPC and design partners, including foundations, seismic design, and reinforced concrete structures
• Support preparation of licensing documentation and ensure civil analyses meet nuclear regulatory expectations
• Resolve field engineering issues, non-conformances, and design–construction interface challenges
• Coordinate civil/structural design with mechanical, electrical, and modular construction teams
• Ensure compliance with the Owner’s QA Program (e.g., NQA-1)
• Serve as the owner’s civil engineering focal point for EPCs, vendors, and third-party engineers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE/P.Eng/CEng) license or ability to obtain
• 10–15+ years of experience in civil/structural engineering for large infrastructure, nuclear, or power projects
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ACI, ASCE, AISC, NUREG/Reg Guides)
• Experience overseeing EPC contractors and reviewing vendor deliverables

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with nuclear-grade design (e.g., seismic Category I, safety-related structures)
• Familiarity with deep foundations, excavations, and shaft construction
