About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care to all patients and assist with feeding, exercising, and grooming
- Triage patients, perform physical exams, and administer medications as directed by licensed technicians
- Assist doctors and technicians with patient restraint and medication administration
- Perform laboratory tests, take radiographs, and maintain accurate medical records
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment including EKGs, fluid pumps, and anesthetic monitors
- Maintain hospital cleanliness by cleaning equipment, kennels, and facilities
- Communicate positively with clients to ensure they feel comfortable leaving their pets
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience as a veterinary assistant
- Ability to restrain cats and dogs
- Ability to perform laboratory work
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform strenuous tasks involving constant motion
- Ability to work with sick animals, cleaning chemicals, and gas anesthetics
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of experience in an emergency veterinary setting
