Overnight Summer Camp Counselor

Responsibilities

• Supervise and actively engage campers throughout the camp day, including cabin life, meals, and activities
• Ensure the physical, emotional, and social safety of all campers at all times
• Lead or assist with program activities such as arts & crafts, archery, nature, and waterfront
• Implement behavior management strategies using positive youth development principles
• Assist campers with daily routines, cabin responsibilities, and personal care
• Respond to emergencies and administer basic first aid as trained
• Maintain accurate documentation including attendance and incident reports
• Participate in staff training, meetings, and camp events

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Ability to live on-site for the duration of the camp program (late May through early August)
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and perform physical activities including lifting up to 50 pounds
• Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within 30 days of hire
• Must pass reference checks, drug screen, background check, and sex offender registry check

Preferred Qualifications

• Some college education
• Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting
• Certifications in Lifeguarding, Archery, Riflery, or High Ropes
