Overhead Transmission Engineer Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of transmission engineers and designers working on overhead line projects
• Oversee development of conceptual designs, including routing studies, structure type evaluation, and constructability assessments
• Review and approve detailed design deliverables such as plan & profile drawings and structure loading packages
• Ensure effective use of industry standard tools such as PLS CADD, PLS Pole/Tower, and SAG10
• Manage project schedules, staffing plans, and resource allocation
• Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, and construction risks
• Coordinate with substation, civil, structural, environmental, and construction teams
• Provide engineering support during procurement and construction, including responding to RFIs
• Manage schedule, budget, deliverables, quality, and compliance
• Visit construction sites and travel to client offices or supplier facilities as required

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited University
• At least ten years’ experience performing overhead transmission engineering-related duties
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, or PLS TOWER preferred
• Knowledge of industry standards including NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and RUS
• Experience leading teams and managing direct reports
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of MFAD, LPILE, and geotechnical recommendation application for foundation design
• Experience managing resource planning and performance appraisals
