Outreach Worker - Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding information, education, support, and encouragement to pregnant and breastfeeding women within the WIC program
• Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions and facilitate group education and support groups
• Assist in marketing and outreach activities for the WIC and Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program
• Collaborate with community partners and provide referrals to community service providers
• Manage breast pump distribution, inventory control, and maintain appropriate records and reports
• Attend staff meetings, breastfeeding trainings, and workshops as required

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Personal breastfeeding experience (must have breastfed at least one baby for a minimum of 6 months)
• Familiarity with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program
• Computer literacy, including knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheets, and database management
• Valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license and access to regular transportation
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Ability to provide culturally aware, client-driven service while following HIPAA guidelines

• Bilingual ability
