Outreach Coordinator

About the Company

The Civilian Complaint Review Board (“CCRB”) is charged with investigating, mediating, and prosecuting complaints which members of the public file against New York City police officers alleging the use of force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, offensive language, untruthful statements made by officers, and racial profiling and biased policing. As the largest police oversight agency in the United States, the CCRB currently investigates approximately 4,500 complaints each year.

Responsibilities

• Research and identify new partnership opportunities to strengthen community engagement
• Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, civic associations, and elected officials
• Represent CCRB at community events, outreach fairs, and public meetings citywide
• Coordinate borough-based offsite board meetings and themed community events
• Assist with event logistics including scheduling, location securing, and material preparation
• Engage community members in conversations regarding CCRB’s mission and services
• Maintain and update an organized database of community partners and outreach contacts
• Prepare and distribute outreach materials, brochures, and board meeting documents
• Support administrative functions including inventory management and data entry

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree and two years of experience in community work, OR
• High school graduation and six years of experience in community work, OR
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have at least one year of experience in community-centered activities
