Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality hemodialysis care and manage patient treatment plans in accordance with facility policies and regulations
• Direct Patient Care Technicians and delegate tasks to direct patient care staff, including LVNs/LPNs and Dialysis Assistants
• Assess daily patient care needs, develop assignments, and monitor staff for adherence to appropriate techniques and procedures
• Educate patients and families regarding End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), vascular access, dialysis therapy, diet, and medication compliance
• Implement and monitor treatment prescriptions, making appropriate adjustments to the treatment plan as indicated by the prescribing physician
• Perform initial and annual nursing assessments and maintain accurate documentation of patient care needs
• Manage laboratory processes, including reviewing orders, ensuring correct specimen collection, and reporting abnormal results to physicians
• Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment in the dialysis treatment area and ensure competency in operating dialysis equipment
• Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities and staff training/orientation

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Current and appropriate state nursing licensure
• Valid CPR Certification
• Ability to meet the necessary requirements of the Ishihara's Color Blindness test

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in medical-surgical nursing
• Experience in hemodialysis
• Experience in an ICU setting
