About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise or assist with individual patient treatment programs under the direction of an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist
- Conduct group activity and exercise programs
- Assist clients with the use of assistive or adaptive equipment
- Instruct and demonstrate safe use of therapeutic equipment
- Monitor and report changes in patient health status to supervising clinicians
- Assist in implementing new therapy programs and research projects
- Maintain equipment, supplies inventory, and patient treatment areas
- Configure wheelchairs to ensure proper fit and function
Requirements
- Combined Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physiotherapy Assistant diploma from a recognized Community College
- Knowledge of wheelchair supplies and seating equipment
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada certification
- Non-violent crisis intervention training
- Knowledge of rehabilitation approaches and the roles of OT and PT
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated computer skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in neurological rehabilitation
