About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply physics-based models and simulators for electrical or mechanical systems to evaluate cyber-physical risk and resilience.
  • Conduct system-level analyses, including controls and power system dynamics, to understand the operational impacts of adversarial events.
  • Build analytic workflows for multi-modal, time-series datasets using numerical methods, statistics, and AI/ML approaches.
  • Design and evaluate monitoring, detection, and anomaly-identification approaches for critical infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain analysis code and prototypes using Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical results through briefings and reports.
  • Lead teams of engineers and scientists to solve complex national security challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent (e.g., DOD Top Secret).
  • Ability to maintain an SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience with physics-based simulators such as MATLAB/Simulink, Ansys, PSCAD, or PowerWorld.
  • Proficiency in scripting or high-level programming.
  • Experience in reverse engineering, software vulnerability assessment, or computer networking.
  • Expertise in applying AI/ML to critical infrastructure applications and datasets.
  • Experience leading high-performing technical teams on complex research projects.
