OSP Specialist

Responsibilities

• Supervise crews performing OSP activities to ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with industry standards, contract scope, and construction drawings
• Interpret underground utility records, power utility grid maps, railroad validation maps, and plat maps to prepare detailed engineering field notes
• Make recommendations for changes in construction methodologies based on environmental conditions, access, or utility congestion
• Participate in engineering, permitting, and construction processes to support project contract requirements
• Document and account for all work performed by internal crews and subcontractors using standard company procedures
• Execute correct procedures for OSP fiber optic cable splicing, termination, testing, and documentation
• Manage crew tasking and schedules to meet or exceed assigned project goals

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering OR Associate’s degree with 3 years of experience OR Technical certification with 4 years of experience
• Minimum of 1 year of OSP engineering or construction experience
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications
• Valid driver’s license
• Effective oral and written English communication skills for technical reporting and requirement interpretation
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions

Preferred Qualifications

• Utility construction experience
• College degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering
• Experience with field engineering lead or project charge responsibilities
• Supervisory or management-level work experience
