About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise crews performing OSP activities to ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with industry standards, contract scope, and construction drawings
- Interpret underground utility records, power utility grid maps, railroad validation maps, and plat maps to prepare detailed engineering field notes
- Make recommendations for changes in construction methodologies based on environmental conditions, access, or utility congestion
- Participate in engineering, permitting, and construction processes to support project contract requirements
- Document and account for all work performed by internal crews and subcontractors using standard company procedures
- Execute correct procedures for OSP fiber optic cable splicing, termination, testing, and documentation
- Manage crew tasking and schedules to meet or exceed assigned project goals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering OR Associate’s degree with 3 years of experience OR Technical certification with 4 years of experience
- Minimum of 1 year of OSP engineering or construction experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Effective oral and written English communication skills for technical reporting and requirement interpretation
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions
Preferred Qualifications
- Utility construction experience
- College degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering
- Experience with field engineering lead or project charge responsibilities
- Supervisory or management-level work experience
