About the role
Responsibilities
- Identify, photograph, and document detailed information of required facilities including cables, poles, terminals, and pedestals
- Capture accurate measurements of attachment heights, span distances, and utility structures
- Identify power and communication facilities and ownership on utility poles
- Record bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor information
- Deliver detailed field notes and photographs to the engineering team
- Identify obstructions to fiber placement and provide mitigation strategies
- Read and understand digital GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in fiber-optic, telecommunications, or telecom construction
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of outside plant activities including fiber cable design and pole line construction
- Familiarity with GIS, ESRI, and shapefile functionality
- Ability to identify utility conflicts based on regulatory standards (RUS, NESC, GO95, NEC)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to travel up to 100% of the time, including overnight stays
- Ability to work outdoors 95% of the time in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
