OSP Field Engineer

Responsibilities

• Identify, photograph, and document detailed information of required facilities including cables, poles, terminals, and pedestals
• Capture accurate measurements of attachment heights, span distances, and utility structures
• Identify power and communication facilities and ownership on utility poles
• Record bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor information
• Deliver detailed field notes and photographs to the engineering team
• Identify obstructions to fiber placement and provide mitigation strategies
• Read and understand digital GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in fiber-optic, telecommunications, or telecom construction
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of outside plant activities including fiber cable design and pole line construction
• Familiarity with GIS, ESRI, and shapefile functionality
• Ability to identify utility conflicts based on regulatory standards (RUS, NESC, GO95, NEC)
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to travel up to 100% of the time, including overnight stays
• Ability to work outdoors 95% of the time in various weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
