About the role
Responsibilities
- Measure and fit soft goods, including breast prostheses and gradient compression garments, and off-the-shelf orthoses
- Conduct preliminary fittings, final fittings, and necessary adjustments to meet individual patient requirements
- Request assistance from certified orthotists when significant adjustments (such as heating, bending, or cutting) are required
- Operate machinery, such as sewing machines, as required for fitting procedures
- Provide clinical instruction and training to orthotic residents regarding soft-goods and post-mastectomy breast prosthesis fitting
Requirements
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Completion of manufacturer courses and/or previous fitting experience
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including moderate standing, walking, lifting, and positioning/transferring of patients
Preferred Qualifications
- Eligibility for, or certification as, an Orthotic Fitter (CFo) or Mastectomy Fitter (CFm) by the ABC
- Experience using electronic health record systems, preferably EPIC or OPIE
- Ability to work effectively within a highly computerized, multidisciplinary team environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
