About the role

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate instruments and equipment following industry standards (UMHS/AAMI/AORN)
  • Assemble, package, and prepare instrument sets and other reusable items
  • Perform sterilization tasks including Steam, EtO, H2O2, and Pasteurization
  • Operate department equipment safely and competently
  • Follow strict policies for sterilization testing, monitoring, and documentation (BI reports, Challenge tests, etc.)
  • Handle and distribute processed items, such as case carts, according to site practices

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Instrument Processing Program including a completed externship (or 1 year of instrument reprocessing work experience)
  • For Level II: Certification and a minimum of 1.5 years of CSS experience
  • For Level II: Demonstrated competency with 80% of trays within assigned work areas
  • For Level II: Ability to take rotating weekend call with a 30-minute response time
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow direction
