OR Instrument Processor I/II

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate instruments, equipment, and other items following industry standards (UMHS/AAMI/AORN)
• Assemble, package, and prepare instrument sets and other reusable items
• Perform sterilization tasks including Steam, EtO, H2O2, and Pasteurization
• Operate department equipment safely and competently
• Follow policies for sterilization testing and monitoring, including accurate documentation of BI reports and challenge tests
• Distribute processed items according to site-specific practices, such as case carts
• Report any concerns regarding processing or sterilization to management

Requirements

• Graduate of an Instrument Processing Program, including a completed externship
• For Level II: Certification and a minimum of 1.5 years of CSS experience
• For Level II: Demonstrated competency with 80% of trays within assigned work areas
• Ability to take rotating weekend call with a 30-minute response time
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow direction

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of CSS experience (for Level I candidates)
