Optometric Technician

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient flow and assist the doctor in preliminary testing
• Operate optical equipment including manual lensometer, autorefractor, retinal camera, and OCT
• Verify medical and vision insurance coverage
• Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and managers
• Maintain and clean examination equipment and clinical areas
• Follow clinical scripting and HIPAA compliance protocols
• Handle general office duties and patient inquiries via phone and email

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year in a customer-facing or patient-facing role
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to pass a background check
• Dependable transportation for potential travel between sites

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous medical office or optometric experience
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management or Business Administration
