About the role
Responsibilities
- Facilitate patient flow and assist the doctor in preliminary testing
- Operate optical equipment including manual lensometer, autorefractor, retinal camera, and OCT
- Verify medical and vision insurance coverage
- Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and managers
- Maintain and clean examination equipment and clinical areas
- Follow clinical scripting and HIPAA compliance protocols
- Handle general office duties and patient inquiries via phone and email
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year in a customer-facing or patient-facing role
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to pass a background check
- Dependable transportation for potential travel between sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous medical office or optometric experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management or Business Administration
