About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of manufacturing engineers in delivering turnkey automation and process optimization projects across North American General Assembly plants
  • Develop and refine the GA automation and optimization roadmap aligned with throughput targets and plant priorities
  • Manage the full project lifecycle from opportunity identification and business case development through design, build, validation, and launch
  • Oversee technical development including concepts, SORs, design reviews, simulations, and FMEAs
  • Partner with GA Shop Directors, plant leadership, and suppliers to ensure solutions meet safety, quality, and cost targets
  • Foster a high-performing engineering culture focused on innovation, continuous improvement, and safety

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or closely related automotive roles
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience, including performance management and talent development
  • Proven experience leading automation projects such as robotics, material handling, or vision systems
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% to plants and suppliers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business
  • Deep knowledge of industrial robotics, PLCs/controls, and error-proofing in high-volume environments
  • Experience as a GA Execution Manager or in a multi-plant automation leadership role
  • Track record of delivering labor-efficiency and productivity improvements
