About the role

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering design teams to develop and execute validation plans for optical and optoelectronic components such as lenses and VCSELs
  • Partner with production and supply chain teams to transition designs into scalable manufacturing processes
  • Contribute to product development through Design For Manufacturing (DFM) and Design For Test (DFT)
  • Own design integrity post-transition to production, maintaining product requirements and coordinating engineering change management
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to optoelectronic performance
  • Work with critical vendors to ensure a reliable supply of specified components
  • Develop specific metrology to ensure appropriate incoming inspection and maintain product quality

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a relevant optics engineering environment
  • Expertise in optoelectronic design, including PINs, VCSELs, and fiber optic interfaces
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes such as wirebonding and epoxy dispense/cure
  • Proficiency in optical modeling and CAD software, specifically ANSYS (Zemax) and Solidworks
  • Hands-on problem-solving experience using FMEA, SPC, and DOE
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment with ESD sensitive components
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, CTQ, and tolerance analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics (Master's preferred)
