About the role
Responsibilities
- Drive optical, optomechanical, and moving mechanism component and subsystem test efforts
- Conduct functional, performance, and environmental testing including vibration, thermal-vacuum, and thermal stress
- Develop and operate ground support equipment (GSE) and testbeds for instrument characterization
- Champion continuous improvement of testing methodologies and tools
- Collaborate with subsystem engineers, spacecraft systems engineers, and production teams
Requirements
- Ph.D. with imaging systems/infrared experience, or M.S. with 3+ years industry experience, or B.S. with 5+ years industry experience
- Basic software skills in Python or C++
- Experience with precision optical and mechanical metrology equipment
- Experience with root cause analysis and rigorous data analysis
- Excellent communication and organization skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for test fixture design
- Experience assembling and characterizing moving mechanism assemblies
- Exposure to design and analysis of optical components and systems
- Experience working in cleanroom environments
