Optical Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform lamination and processing of optical assemblies for prototypes
• Conduct hands-on active alignment of optical modules used in AR devices
• Execute careful hand assembly work and part processing
• Perform mechanical and electrical rework of prototypes and components
• Operate custom calibration and assembly equipment
• Author documentation and reports regarding assembly practices and opto-mechanical test data

Requirements

• Mechanical background and strong technical aptitude
• 5+ years of experience in a related technical field
• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, or a related technical field
• Experience working in an R&D lab environment for product development
• Rapid prototyping skills across multiple disciplines
• Experience with laser safety protocols
• Experience with calibration (specifically camera-based sensors)
• Experience authoring SOPs for assembly and testing

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with clean room procedures and equipment
• Experience with optical metrology
