Focused Energy is at the forefront of developing NeoLyte—a pioneering initiative in compact, laser-driven radiation sources (LDRS) utilizing high-power laser technology. Our dual-mode LDRS platform integrates MeV X-rays and fast neutrons within a single, modular system, enabling real-time, non-destructive inspection of even the most complex and shielded materials.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify concept and detailed designs for complex optical systems
• Lead the integration of optical components with mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems
• Take ownership of optical component development, managing quality, cost, time, and risk
• Develop and implement qualification and validation test plans
• Research and develop novel optical concepts and solutions
• Identify and align critical suppliers to realize optics design into functional hardware
• Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability and regulatory adherence
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary scientific and engineering teams

Requirements

• At least three years of experience designing and developing advanced optical systems
• Experience with high-power laser systems preferred
• Strong knowledge of optical design principles, materials, coatings, and testing methods
• Experience in ultra-short pulse laser systems (fs or ps-regime) is highly desirable
• Substantial experience in optical design simulation, preferably ZEMAX
• Knowledge of opto-thermal mechanical design simulation is a significant advantage
• Solid understanding of opto-mechanical design principles
• Understanding of photonics components and their integration in high-powered laser systems
• Experience with optomechanical MAIT and supplier interaction is highly desirable
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proactive communication skills
