Optical Components Product Engineer

Responsibilities

• Act as the design authority for optoelectronic products in manufacture, providing technical support for failure analysis and development.
• Collaborate with R&D and Operations teams to define production requirements and specifications for processes and tests.
• Drive continuous improvements in design for manufacturability (DFM) and maintain assembly tools.
• Review and update PFMEA to ensure product reliability and quality.
• Lead training programs for contract manufacturer operators and engineers to ensure operational excellence.
• Manage the product lifecycle from launch to mass production, including yield tracking and BOM management for cost reduction.
• Work with Test Engineering to create automated analysis tools and KPIs for performance monitoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in designing, manufacturing, or testing optoelectronic products.
• Solid understanding of optical device principles (lasers, modulators, detectors, optical sub-assemblies, and transceivers).
• Expertise in production processes for optoelectronic device manufacturing.
• Proven track record in product lifecycle management and launching complex modules.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with multi-functional, global teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% to support product transfer and manufacturing in North America and Asia.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree or certifications in photonics or optoelectronics.
• Experience in developing automated testing frameworks for optoelectronic products.
• Expertise in statistical process control (SPC) and quality assurance methodologies.
• Knowledge of advanced packaging materials and sustainability practices.
• Proficiency in programming languages for data analysis and automation.
