Ophthalmology Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care within the Ophthalmology and Neuro Ophthalmology Emergency Department during night shifts
• Develop and implement individualized nursing plans of care in collaboration with patients and their families
• Assess patient ailments and injuries, implementing appropriate treatment plans and medication administration
• Educate patients and designated care partners regarding medical conditions, treatments, and recovery steps
• Utilize information technology to manage clinical knowledge, mitigate errors, and document medical histories and vital signs
• Function effectively within inter-professional teams to ensure safe, compassionate, and coordinated care
• Participate in hospital committees related to safety and quality improvement

Requirements

• Specialized Diploma from an accredited school of nursing
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Pennsylvania
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs, including pushing/pulling patients and performing lateral transfers
• Ability to perform frequent to continuous standing and walking throughout a shift

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion of an advanced degree within 3 years of hire
• At least 1 year of previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
