Ophthalmic Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary work-up of patients including dilation, refraction, and pressures
• Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, and topography
• Scribe for Physicians, accurately documenting medical visits and procedures in the EMR
• Record patient medical history, current medications, and vital signs
• Assist Physicians with examinations and minor procedures
• Maintain clean and stocked examination, treatment, and laser rooms
• Ensure accurate procedure coding and diagnosis codes are used in the EMR

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum of one year of experience as an Ophthalmology Technician in general ophthalmology and/or retina
• Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Reliable transportation for travel between Somerset and Millburn, NJ offices
• Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
• Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC)
• Phlebotomy license
