About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary work-up of patients including dilation, refraction, and pressures
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, and topography
- Scribe for Physicians, accurately documenting medical visits and procedures in the EMR
- Record patient medical history, current medications, and vital signs
- Assist Physicians with examinations and minor procedures
- Maintain clean and stocked examination, treatment, and laser rooms
- Ensure accurate procedure coding and diagnosis codes are used in the EMR
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of one year of experience as an Ophthalmology Technician in general ophthalmology and/or retina
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Reliable transportation for travel between Somerset and Millburn, NJ offices
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
- Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC)
- Phlebotomy license
