Ophthalmic Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service during patient encounters
• Anticipate Physician needs to facilitate clinic flow
• Verify patient information and record medical history in EMR
• Perform diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, and topography
• Check eye conditions by observing pupils, muscles, and visual acuity
• Prepare patients for treatments and minor procedures
• Maintain clean and stocked examination and treatment rooms
• Accurately document medical visits and procedures performed by the Physician

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of related experience or training
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
