About the role
Responsibilities
- Facilitate patient flow and assist doctors with preliminary testing
- Verify medical and vision insurance information
- Record medical history, medications, and visit purpose in EMR
- Perform diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, and topography
- Check eye conditions by observing pupils, muscles, and visual acuity
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients in person and via phone
- Maintain professional attitude and comply with HIPAA regulations
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Reliable transportation for travel between office locations
- Ability to perform physical activities including walking, standing, and lifting up to 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous medical or eyecare experience
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
