About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist ophthalmologists in providing patient care and performing preliminary testing
- Facilitate patient flow and manage clinic urgency
- Perform diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, and topography
- Record patient medical history, medications, and vital signs in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Verify medical and vision insurance information
- Prepare patients for treatments and minor procedures
- Maintain clean and stocked examination and treatment rooms
- Comply with all HIPAA confidentiality standards
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- One year of related experience and/or training
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks including walking and standing
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
