About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist ophthalmologists in providing patient care and performing preliminary testing
  • Facilitate patient flow and manage clinic urgency
  • Perform diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, and topography
  • Record patient medical history, medications, and vital signs in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Verify medical and vision insurance information
  • Prepare patients for treatments and minor procedures
  • Maintain clean and stocked examination and treatment rooms
  • Comply with all HIPAA confidentiality standards

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of related experience and/or training
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks including walking and standing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification
  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
