Operator Technician II

Responsibilities

• Start, stop, and monitor power plant equipment, including reading gauges and meters and recording activities in operating logs.
• Use computers and monitoring equipment to measure, record, and make adjustments within operating parameters.
• Perform plant maintenance tasks, including diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Conduct chemical analysis and control on steam, cooling, and condensate systems, and maintain chemistry logs.
• Assist in the development of standard operational procedures and provide input for plant efficiency, reliability, and safety improvements.
• Ensure compliance with all local, State, and Federal regulations and plant procedures.
• Operate heavy equipment such as manlifts and forklifts, and handle/transfer bulk chemicals.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, degree from a technical/vocational school, military service, or equivalent.
• Approximately 6 years of directly related experience, including knowledge of health and safety regulations and handling hazardous energy, chemicals, and waste materials.
• Proven experience using test equipment and calibration appliances.
• Experience with machinery repair and control systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.
• Valid state driver’s license.
