Operations Specialist

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the movement of products via air and ocean freight in compliance with local and international laws.
• Prepare and coordinate necessary documentation for efficient and lawful transportation activities.
• Coordinate with US federal agencies, foreign militaries, and defense contractors regarding specific shipment needs.
• Manage cargo pick-up, transfers, and shipment tracking, providing regular status updates to customers and agents.
• Manage and update carrier/vendor rates and obtain spot rates when necessary.
• Handle customer invoicing, payable approvals, and file auditing to ensure accuracy.
• Complete US Customs AES filings and coordinate with the CHB team for import entry filings.
• Maintain high levels of customer service through proactive communication and problem resolution.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-5 years of experience in freight forwarding or handling freight forwarding shipments.
• Strong knowledge of customs laws, practices, and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Knowledge of ITAR and licensed commodities, including relevant regulations and restrictions.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work both independently and within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cargowise (C1).
• Knowledge of US Exports Compliance.
• Additional language skills.
• Geographical knowledge of global shipping routes.
